    1. Quaker Records
    2. Billye D. Jackson
    3. Found this off one of the other sites, it's got a lot of Quaker information, in case you've not run across it. It's a frames site, index on left, and drop menu at top. Click the Quaker fella on the left side to go to the home page, if you get lost. bj http://www.rootsweb.com/~quakers/index.htm

    1. NARA NEWS
    2. Billye D. Jackson
    3. http://www.ngsgenealogy.org/news/body_frame.html Are you all aware that NARA might be about to raise prices on ordering papers from them, like Military papers, and the other things we order? It's not a done deal, but bears watching, and if, like me, you've successfully postponed ordering those papers on your ancestor, maybe you might want to take a bit of time and do that now, while prices are stable. I've heard some hair-raising tales of prices, and surely it won't be as bad as I heard. However, I don't intend to chance it, and I for sure will be putting my requests in the mail pretty quick. 1. Victoria GenWeb page updated
    2. Billye D. Jackson
    3. Cynthia (& Jack Buttram, not to ignore her good right hand helper-person), web mistress for Victoria Co., has told me she's updated the webpage. She said "just updated the Victoria webpage. I added a note about the Fort St. Louis project. Also have the GenConnect Query System on it now. You need to know that now we have our Victoria County Webpage, The US GenWeb Query Page for Victoria County, (which Cynthia also manages) and this TXVICTOR-L connected together so that when anyone posts a query to the USGenWeb page for Victoria County, it will automatically post to this mail list at the same time, thanks to the expertise at RootsWeb, and our Cynthia. Thanks, Cynthia, for following through and doing that, and for taking the job of managing that Query page, too. Billye D. Jackson Mail List manager

    1. Coat of Arms
    2. Billye D. Jackson
    3. Are you interested in finding a Heraldry Coat of Arms? Check this site, and I don't vouch for authenticity, a person would have to consult a good heraldry reference book to make sure one was authentic, but this is fun, anyhow. bj http://www.designsofwonder.com/master/master.html

    1. Roots Web Surname Pages
    2. Billye D. Jackson
    3. Can't find anything to do? Check for new pages at Roots Web, for your families. Probably need to check over most of the alphabet links, as they don't really go by your Surname you are hunting, it's how the page person made their page and titled it. But, some of the surnames are listed so you can find them easily under an initial. This will take you a bit of time, clear through the weekend, probably. 3. Another one from the April 2000 Memorandum: A Windows version of the FHLibrary Catalog is expected by April of this year. It will be on compact disc and operate with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher. This version of the Family History Library Catalog is similar to the Internet version but provides additional search capabilities. It will be sent free of charge to all US and Canada Family History Centers as soon as it is available. The compact disc can ALSO be purchased for home use.

    1. FHC MEMORANDUM 3/2000
    2. Bowen Family
    3. BEFORE PATRONS VISIT THE FAMILY HISTORY LIBRARY The Family History Library in Salt Lake CIty has one of the largest collections of genealogical records in the world, but not all of the films listed in the FHLCatalog are housed in the library because of space limitations. Copies of the most films for the US, Canada, Britain, Germany, and Scandinavia are available in the library. However, copies of many films from other parts of the world must be ordered by library staff from the Granite Mountain Records Vault or the Salt Lake Distribution Center when needed by patrons. If a copy of a film must be ordered, it may not be available at the library for a day or two. A patron who plans to visit the FHL in Salt Lake should search the FHLCatlog in advance at a Family History Center or at www.familysearch.org to determine if the films are in the library. The patrons can then send a letter or an e-mail to the library, preferably four weeks before the visit, listing the films needed in the priority order. Library staff can verify which films are available in the library and which need to be ordered. The request should include the patron's telephone number or e-mail address. Requests should be sent to: Family History Library Library Attendant Supervisor 35 North West Temple Salt Lake City, UT 84150-3400 E-mail address: fhl@ldschurch.org
