We looked at this site way back, but Mr. Samuelson has done a lot more work. He is a pay-place for ordering records, but does us all a service by putting out a huge number of names for us to do a free check through and see if we have a kinperson there to even order a record for. Though this is a moneymaker for him, he knows he does us a service, and he even helps by posting records to GenConnect, when asked. That's good of him, not many would who are in business to earn money. Well, General Land Office does this same sort of thing, come to think of it, but most companies don't. Today would be a great day for going back to the Bureau of Land Management Records and rechecking for land records. They've not only given it a New Look, they've got a lot of states for you to check on, and if you don't know exactly which one you want to look at, be sure to move your cursor to the bottom of the list and select ALL STATES. Might catch one that way. It also offers the use of wildcards to help with name spelling. From page below listed, move to Search Records, or whatever that said.. bj PS, there's a note there that they don't have the original thirteen colonies, and they don't have metes and bounds states, like KY and WVA. All those Midwest, south, west and even Alaska are now on it. Sure wish they could do those states they've not been able to put on for us, though. I know, don't look a Gift Horse in the mouth! Victoria County is not there, but a lot of others are. Hi Billye, Yes, that is a tough exam...for what WE consider to be the eighth grade. However, when my grandfather, who was born in 1894, was graduated from high school there were only 9 grades, and he was not 14. Children went to school until they were finished, or quit. School was not mandatory for 12 years. They had to take time off for planting, harvesting, etc. So eighth grade was much the same as what we call high school. Besides, I knew a heck of a lot more when I was a teenager than I do now! grace
