Jim, Thanks for the note. Your right I'm not near finished with it, got tons more to add and polish it up. That's why it's not linked yet but I didn't want everybody to think I'd jumped ship or anything. I haven't been to active getting the list rolling but in a one man operation (I can't get anybody else to stay up all night and type around here.<G>) a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. Just wanted to give the "listers" a preview and get any comments. I haven't seen any other county try this. It might take a little while but I think we might be able to fill in a lot of blanks (b./d. m., parents, etc.). Another idea I had is to make a listing of all the Tyler Co. Researchers and number them. In the last column I can put the # of any direct descendant linked to the listing. Those that provide information stand a good chance of connecting with others. Any thoughts? I don't know exactly how the spacing will end up. There are advantages and disadvantages to not being tied to a normal width of paper. Some information takes more space than others. I guess if nothing else at least the information will be there. I would sure like to see the whole US 1850 census done this way. ****Just dreaming, I guess**** I just added some death records to Hardin Co. if you've got connections down that way. I try to do a little something in each of my 8 counties without favoring any one of them. Sure wish I could get hold of some volunteers who do html and have tons of time on their hands. Gotta run, Barbara PS: Maybe my GGGG-granddaughter will get it done. <G> ---------- From: Jim Guest Sent: Thursday, May 29, 1997 11:50 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: IS TYLER COUNTY STILL THERE?? Mucho Thanks. One thing about the census....I realize that you are probably still "fine tuning" and I will offer something.... Some of the pages or "forms" were different, probably from your expiermenting for the best spacing and format. I noticed this when I printed some of them. Some would print with my printer set to do 8 1/2 by 11 in landscape mode, but I had to set it for 8 1/2 by 14 for other pages. I noticed that on later pages you added colums for page number, line number, and ED on some also. Like trying to design any form, it's always a fight between the amount of information you want to put on, and the amount of room there is for it. For me personally I would have no problem in sticking some legal paper in my printer if that's the standard you finally wind up with. I'm just tickled to see you breaking this new ground in an effort to bring some primary sources to the internet. The "extra" notes really do add to them also. Now, when will the 1860, '70 and '80 all be on? <G> Jim ------------------------------
