There was a Levi Nowlin, born ca 1865, Texas who was the son of Martin David Nowlin, b. 22 Feb 1831 in TN, died 22 Dec 1907, buried in Nowlin Cem. near Chester, Polk Co., Tx. His memorial marker in the cemetery says he was a Corporal in Co. K 13 Reg., Texax Cavalry of Civil War. He and Nancy (Durden?) who was born ca 1831 in Tenn/Miss and died after 1880. (No other information about Levi). Martin Davis Nowlin is the son of Light Nowlin Sr. Light Nowlin Sr. had a brother named Stephen Nowlin. Stephen is the one I'm actually tracing but I thought I could learn something about him by tracing Light Nowlin Sr. By the way, I had an opportunity to visit the Nowlin Cemetery, near Chester, TX a couple of months ago. There was a memorial marker for Martin Davis Nowlin and three other Nowlins but the markers were side by side, all made at the same time. There was no evidence of graves, so I don't think they are really buried there. I have more information on the Nowlins buried in Tyler County which came from the library in Woodville, TX. If you would like to have a copy, send me your snail mail address. I'll be "off-line" for about a week. So forgive me as I may be slow in responding. Does this sound like the same Levi Nowlin?
