    3. Good morning Tyler County Rooters, Well, I have my mail back, finally, since Friday (2:00pm). Did I miss anything? I've still got some mail dribbling in from Saturday, but I've only gotten 2 from the list members and those were sent to me personally. If you sent anything to me personally, you better send it again. As of midnight last night we had 20 members on the list. Now, I know I'm probably kin to at least half of you and I love to talk genealogy. One nice thing about a small list where there's a good chance we're kin is that we can talk about anything to do with genealogy or Tyler Co. First of all, I want to introduce myself. I was born and raised in Port Neches, TX. Lived there all my life except for about 5 years when I lived in Port Arthur. I moved to Nederland in 1995. My mother and father were born and raised in mostly in Sabine County. My fathers mother was Maggie Horn Yancey, who was born in the Beech Creek Community of Tyler Co. and lived most of her married life at Brookeland, TX. Before Rayburn Lake was filled, my grandparents were forced to sell their place at Brookeland and they moved about two miles south of Spurger. Mothergrand, as she was called, was the daughter of Wm. Henry Horn (of the Magnolia Springs Horns) and Johnnie Ann Collier. Johnnie Ann Collier was the daughter of Capt. James Gautney Collier, who founded the Beech Creek Baptist Church in Tyler Co. I've been doing research for about 23 years and Tyler Co. was were I got my feet went in the wonderful "hobby". I've been "computing" since 1982 but sometimes still feel like real newbie at it and I really am one when it comes to the Internet. I wish each one of you members would tell us a little about yourselves. It's OK if all this is new to you and your just getting started. Maybe with the media that we have today your search won't be as hard as those that have gone before you. This is your list and I need you to let me know what direction you would like it to go. ANY IDEAS?? I would really like for it to be more than just a place to post queries because we already have a place for that. You tell me what you would like. Please remember to put at least your first name and email address in the text of your messages for those that will be printing them out, otherwise we might not be able to get back in touch when we finally dig up you ancestor or find the answer to your question. Also let everyone know if you have a homepage even if it's not genealogy related. Have a Happy Hunting day, Barbara Dore (aka) [email protected] http://members.aol.com/RootsLady/index.htm Listmother: TXTYLER-L (I'm old enough to be a grandmother, but I'm not so I'll have to settle for Listmother <G> ------------------------------
