HI, I have been sort of sitting on the side lines watching hoping to see some notes fly by about the families I am tracing, but I haven't seen any. So here I go... Is any one doing research on the GENTRY or REED families in Tyler County? I am really interested in trying to trace Benjamin Elliot GENTRY back to Georgia. I believe he came to Texas around 1858 and married Sarah Florida REED. They appear on the 1860 census around Woodville. Russell REED brought his family to Tyler County in the 1850s. Benjamin and some of the REED brothers served in the CSA, Texas Infantry, around Sabine Pass. Benjamin was promoted to Captain during the war. After the war Benjamin moved to Brazos County. The REEDs stayed in Tyler County, where many of them are buried. I would like one day to visit the Woodville area and see their graves. I would appreciate any assistance with this search.
