    3. Hi Folks, As most of you know a tombstone was found in the front yard of a woman in Hood County. A query went out to RootsWeb mail list in an attempt to locate the stone's home. This discovery lends itself to another question. This was an out of the way cemetery. Were the stones removed to make way for farm land, or suburban development? Is there anyone in, or near Tyler County who could drive out to the cemetery to see what's going on? Appreciate any help, donna http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~txcemeteries/ Historic Texas Cemeteries http://www.rootsweb.com/~txterry/index.htm Terry Co., TXGenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~txcochra/index.htm Cochran Co., TXGenWeb http://www.htcomp.net/donnasdigs/ Donna's Digs (Johnson County) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ned Coleman" <ned.coleman@thc.state.tx.us> To: "Donna Brand" <dbrand@htcomp.net> Sent: Friday, December 07, 2001 9:28 AM Subject: missing tombstone I found the stone listed in SELECTED CEMETERIES OF TYLER COUNTY TEXAS by Linda L. Bohl available through Ericson Books, 1614 Redbud Street, Nacogdoches, TX 75961. She shows it as being in Grimes Cemetery located off Hwy 190 E about 10 miles down Hollie Fork Road on a hill in what is now an open field - it has a wooden sign and is approximately one and a half miles off Hollie Fork Road. The version of the text from she records reads: Rachele E. Rawls Oct. 28, 1848 Jan. 5, 1886 James J. Rawls Dec. 27, 1883 June 15, 1890 (Mason) Our Loved Ones Have Gone Home This must be the same people, even though there are discrepancies in the recording. Ned

    3. Donna, I saw that message earlier today, and I live right here in Woodville, think it's not to far from me, just need better directions.....I'll look at the cemetery book that I have and see if I can locate it.....but it'll be over the weekend before I can do it. Been gone most of the day, came home to see the other messages....will be happy to check it out if possible. Melody

    3. OK>>>>>I called the Tyler Cnty Heritage Soc........out at Heritage Village, talked to them, found out there really is a Holly Fork Rd,......and then called the sheriff's dept, and they told me exactly where it is.........it's not right off of 190E.....it's quite a ways out in the KUNTRYYYYY.......but weather permitting, I'll make my way out there....maybe tomorrow.....is there anything in particular that you want me to look for???? By the way for anyone interested.....the Heritage Soc. here in Tyler county, is getting a new building to house all their information and book's, etc......the LDS church here in town is entering all kinds of information into the computer, so researching will be much improved up in this area. For any one wishing more details, you may call the Village at 409-283-2272.
