    3. I've seen numerous references to this couple, but I don't think it's the same William Green. However, I just discovered on the 1870 census that he had a previous marriage to the one with my great-grandmother. I will check this out further. At any rate, I don't think any of my Durhams came through Alabama - I think they went from NC to Tennessee, then to Texas. Thanks for responding! I'll keep in touch if I find a connection. 3. No, my Grandfather was born in the 1900's in another State. So was my G-Grandfather. He was born about 1802 in North Carolina. His wife Laticia was born about 1809 in Georgia. They appear in the Tyler County census in the Woodville area in the 1870 and 1880 census. I've identified two children so far, William Green (g-grandfather) born 1832 in North Carolina and Elijah, born 1839 in Tennessee. Elijah was recorded as insane on both censuses. Would love to hear from anyone connected to this family. Thanks, Theresa Varnau ==== TXTYLER Mailing List ==== TYLER COUNTY RESOURCES at ROOTSWEB http://resources.rootsweb.com/USA/TX/Tyler/

    1. [TXTYLER-L] 1860 Tyler Co., TX Census
    2. I am transcribing the 1860 Tyler Co., TX census. On page 3, Sheet 345A there is listed a L A Cook age 70, male, born SC. I cannot figure out his occupation. Listed on the same page are 2 merchants, a mechanic, an apothecary, a MD, a dentist and a lawyer. I believe the word starts with a Q or O. The rest of the word is either insernsalist or enevnsclect. I just can't make it out. Does anyone have this man in their genealogy or does anyone have access to this census? Help appreciated. It's the only occupation I can't figure out. Julia Lee

It looks likely since Joseph and Senith were the only Lamb married couple in Polk Co in the 1880 census. Also I spoke to an uncle of mine who says Joseph and Senith had a son Jeff with about the same birth and death as your Henry Jefferson. I have quite a bit on Joseph and Senith if you want to pursue that line. Email me direct.

    3. If you haven't done so previously, you might check out this website. It appears to be a one-name study website for Rawls & variants. http://members.aol.com/rrrawls/rawlsgen.htm There is also a Rawls cemetery north of Town Bluff. It's way out in the boonies. The roads aren't named, so it may be hard to find. It you look about 1/2 way between Jasper and Colmsneil you will find it about a mile from the Meches River. There is a Farrell Cemetery about 1/2 mile west so don't get confused. There is a community of Rawls Springs near where I live in MS. The founder of the community Benjamin Rawls settled here about 1816 in the vicinity of several mineral springs. His descendant Benjamin Franklin Rawls bought the land where the springs were located in 1890 and around them the community of Rawls Springs grew up. Gene At 03:11 PM 12/16/01 -0600, Sam E.
