Julie, If it is not to much trouble would you see if Missouri Reid is listed in the census records of Wood County for 1860 and 1870. If you do not have the time don't feel bad about it. Your very welcome, it was no biggie.....anytime.....I feel the same as you do, a little lost looking up ancestors, and hoping for help anytime.......from someone else. Have a nice weekend. M
Thanks so much Melody! You've offered a lot of time in order to help me out. I just know I am related to some of those Hollands but just can't seem to find the connection. I hope that I can return the favor sometime (keep in mind I live in Montgomery County-you might need something here). If I can, please let me know. In the meantime, please keep and touch and let me know if you run across anything interesting! Thanks Melody! His name was William T. Holland, he was referred to as WT often on his probate record, I think the T may have stood for Thomas but that is just a guess. Hi Melody! Seems we have exchanged emails before because I recognize your name. I think it was awhile back. I knew he wasn't in the cemetery book, so I've often hoped that he may be buried in a "lost" cemetery somewhere that didn't make it to the book. Then again, I'm almost resolved that he was buried on private property and the grave has been lost. I know he had property in Angelina county in 1860- and may still have owned it when he died, but it was city property, and they resided in Tyler county when he died, his probate record said he died "at home" but not how. So I figured he would have been buried in Tyler county. I really need to look again. As far as I can tell, his property was West of Colmesneil between Colmesneil and what now is the dam, some ways out, and he had a lot of acreage. Do you know if the county line had changed there since then? It might be that he was buried in Angelina! Thanks bunches! Hello List, I'm not sure if this will help anybody on the Hollands', but you might give it a try. There were a large number of Andersons' in the Panola co., Rusk co., area, from about the 1820's and on. They were intermarried with the Hollands', probably from as far back as KY and TN. I am not sure yet of the exact connections yet, so I can't tell you much else. I am a descendant of Mary Pauline Anderson Wade and Nathan Lloyd Davis. This line continued to use Holland as a given name, for a number of generations. There are also a line of Hollands', in the Runnels co.TX area that have been there for probably about 80 to 100 years. I hope this gives y'all somewhere else to look. I realize these Hollands' are in different counties than what you are discussing, so they may not even be the right lines. Hello Michelle, I looked up your ancestor "HOLLAND" in the cemetery book that I have for Tyler county, and there was not one that matched that name or date......some around the same time, quite a few Hollands, but not that one. It's possible he's in an adjoining county, like Jasper, or Hardin, or even north of us....if they were in the Rockland area, it's possible they were in Angelina county.......worth a looksee.
