    1. [TXTYLER-L] Mortality Schedules.
    2. Katheryn J. Fisher
    3. Mortality Schedules are available at the National Archive branches and at Family History Libraries. Like the census they were done every ten years starting in 1850 through 1900. There was also one for 1885. Mortality schedules reported the names of persons who died preceeding June 1 of the census year. For 1850 for example the people listed would have died between June 1, 1849 - May 31, 1850. Heritage quest also sells CDs of the mortality Schedules. Their website is: http://www.heritagequest.com/ A book which you all might find very helpful is Your Guide to the Federal Census by Kathleen W. Hinckley, Published by Betterway Books of Cincinnati, Ohio. It not only has information on the about to be released 1930 US Census but also has information on the Mortality Schedules. The book was just released in February so it would probably be better to go through the Publisher to get it. I had a nightmare time ordering it through my local bookstore. It is soft cover, 275 pages. Cost is $21.95 US. I just got mine but it looks like it will be a handy resource for genealogists. Katheryn

    3. I would welcome a look up. I am trying to pin down the date of death and burial place for my gg grandfather. Also the names of his parents or any siblings. His name is Barney Bently (or Bentley) aka. Barnett Bentley. He was born about 1818 in Georgia. I believe from the land records I have seen that he died in Woodville between 1873 and 1880. He may have served in Florida in the Seminole Indian War. I have found all census records pertaining to him and his family between 1850 and 1880. His first wife was Malinda Brashear. She was born 1826 in Alabama, they were married August 16, 1849 in Woodville, Tyler Co., Texas. I believe she died Bef. 1861 in Woodville, Tyler co., Texas. He second wife was Rebecca Hensarling. She was born 1835 in Jones Co., Mississippi, and died in Texas, She is buried in New Concord Cemetery in Angelina County. They were married August 14, 1861 in Woodville, Tyler Co., Texas. Children of Barnett Bentley and Malinda Brashear are: John Franklin2 Bentley,! born August 1850, David C Bentley, born 1852, Mary Bentley, born 1855, Nancy C Bentley, born 1857, and Thomas Bentley, born 1859 Children of Barnett Bentley and Rebecca Hensarling are: Malinda/Belindy Jane Bentley, born 1863, Jeramiah Louis Bentley, born 1865; died 1948, Benjamin Albert Bentley, born 1870 (my g grandfather), Margaret M. Bentley, born 1872. Any information you could give me would be welcome.
