Surnames: HOLLAND, COLLIER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DAC.2ACI/618.5 Message Board Post: My gg-grandfather William T. (WT) HOLLAND shows up, for the first time, on the 1854 Tyler County Tax records. I'm not really sure, but I am guessing that my William may have came from Twiggs County or Early County. I haven't proven any connections but I'm looking into a Daniel and Mary HOLLAND in Twiggs County as his possible parents. William was married to a Susan A. "unknown" but I haven't been able to find any marriage record, nor have I found William on an 1860 census. There is a Susan BOSTICK living somewhat nearby William HOLLAND of Twiggs County that would have been the right age. I've often wondered if maybe that isn't them and that they settled somewhere in East of Tyler County or in LA before coming on in to Texas. William died in 1866, at home, and James T. COLLIER was one of the appraisers of William's probate in 1866. Do you think he may have been on this wagon train? Michelle Holland

    3. Bless You! I sure could use some look-ups. I have hit a brick wall. I am looking for information on Barnet Bently OR Barney Bently. Barnet could also be spelled Barnett and Bently could also be spelled Bentley. I have a marriage date for his first marriage to Malinda Brashear Aug 16, 1849 (Also seen as Balinda), and a date for his second marriage to Rebecca Hensarling August 14, 1861. What I do not have is complete birthdates for children born to Barney and Malinda. They are: John Franklin born August 1850, David C., born 1852, Mary, born 1855, Nancy C., born 1857, and Thomas born December 1859 all were born in Woodville as far as I know. His children with Rebecca are: Malinda Jane (aka Belindy), born 1863, Jeramiah Louis Bentley, born 1865, Benjamin Albert Bentley, born 1870, and Margaret M. Bentley, born 1872. All were also born in Woodville. I do know from land records that Barney Bently held land in Tyler County from about a year prior to his first marriage and presumably until his death as the last record is of land being sold by his second wife Rebecca Bentley et al. What I do not know is when or where Barney Bently died or what he died from. I have narrowed the date of death to between October 1878 - February 1893. The last date being when the land was sold by Rebecca. That is still a large window of time but it's the best I have. Any information you can give me on birthdats for any of the children or on Barney's death date would be appreciated. Tennessee and Jeremiah had a little girl referred to as Lutee on the 1870 Texas census and as E. L. on the 1880 Texas census. I have a note from one of Lula Belle's daughters stating that her mother's real name was Elisebeth Lue T. Spiller, which would fit all of this. The only difference is that the 1900 listed two daughters, Tabitha, and Maggie. ages 6 and 4. They were not on the 1920 census. The 1920 census said they had 3 kids, only two living.
