Thanks for writing, Ken. I suspect that Joseph R., Archibald, Robert, and probably Jefferson, even maybe Jessie were somehow related, possibly even brothers. All were in early Jasper and Tyler Counties. I would like very much to share information. I am looking for descendants of Robert and Nancy Laird who were in Jasper Co., Texas in 1850. Nancy died and in 1858 Robert married Talitha Hargrave in Jasper Co. Robert and Talitha were in Tyler Co. for the sale of land in 1859. Then their trail dissappears. In 1893 some documents appear in Deed Book R page 610 which are power of attorney appointing L.D. Scarborough to represent: From Tyler Co. John B. Lowe, Susan A. Lowe, Sarah J.McQueen joined by her husband, J.P. McQueen and F.M. Grimes joined by her husband William Grimes. ( children of Frances M. Laird and William Mallet Lowe -- there were six children of that marriage, this accounts for four. Don't know if Robert and William Jr. are dead or are filing in a different document.) >From Harris Co., Margaret Laird (unmarried daughter of Robert Laird - only living child that we know of) Mrs. Lucinda Hargraves joined by her husband Alexander Hargraves Mrs. Sarah F. Ken, thanks for the names. I don't see anyone I ever heard of before, so I guess there's no need to pursue it. My Chambliss line originated with Jesse in Sumter county GA and they scattered from there after the war (1860's and later). Melissa Chambliss married Wiley G. W. Parker and were my Dad's mother's parents. They did live in Tyler in the 1875-95 time frame, but I don't know that any of Melissa's kin came with them.
