Sure > wish I could get hold of some volunteers who do html and have > tons of time on their hands. ================= I started taking an on-line course in html a couple of months ago, but pooped out after a couple of weeks...... just don't have the time or the brain power right now. This idea you mention in your first paragraph above..... I think it would "fly", although I still owe some folks some return mail that I "met" on some of the county surname postings. One fellow, Bill Richardson, was kind enough to send an attachment with the entire "population" of a cemetery in the north part of Hardin County, and it even had references about who was what kin to who. I looked at the death records added to Hardin County. The mention of the cause of death leads me to believe that this information came from death certificates. What about deaths gotten from tombstones? Would that be duplicating something? Perhaps that would be better put under a cemetery "inventory". I'm begining to see some of your problems. I'm not real smart on this stuff, but can lists (an kind of list) be made up in a word processor and displayed without making it an html page? I can see that the html pages you made for the 1850 census must have taken as much time to make the page as it did to take the census in 1850. Anyway, I will be glad to contribute what I have collected whatever format you come up with. The counties I'm looking in are Hardin County and all bordering counties back to 1846. That's when the first Hollands were supposed to have set up their homestead where Village Creek and Hickory Creek meet. Today that's about in the center of the Big Thicket National Park. 3. HI! I'm new to the list and just wanted to pop in and say HI! I'm searching the NOWLIN line, particularly Stephen NOWLIN, b. 12/22/1797. His brother, Light NOWLIN Sr. was buried somewhere in Tyler County. Barbara, I checked out your site. GREAT ONE! Too bad I didn't inherit that kind of creativity. Will you keep us posted on your progress on the 1850 census? I'm very interested in it. Thanks Nancie Carrigan Indianapolis, Indiana ------------------------------

Mucho Thanks. One thing about the census....I realize that you are probably still "fine tuning" and I will offer something.... Some of the pages or "forms" were different, probably from your expiermenting for the best spacing and format. I noticed this when I printed some of them. Some would print with my printer set to do 8 1/2 by 11 in landscape mode, but I had to set it for 8 1/2 by 14 for other pages. I noticed that on later pages you added colums for page number, line number, and ED on some also. Like trying to design any form, it's always a fight between the amount of information you want to put on, and the amount of room there is for it. For me personally I would have no problem in sticking some legal paper in my printer if that's the standard you finally wind up with. I'm just tickled to see you breaking this new ground in an effort to bring some primary sources to the internet. The "extra" notes really do add to them also. Now, when will the 1860, '70 and '80 all be on? <G> Jim ------------------------------

    3. Hi Barbara: Looks like we are both a couple of Night Owls. Will you be able to attend our meeting? I'm not sure were you live, but I thought I'd ask anyway. We have had pretty good response over the net. 2 in California, 1 in Wyoming, a Couple in Dallas/Fort Worth area and several in Houston. By the way the Census info looks GREAT. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK. Would it be possible to get a hard copy for the Library. We have the census but what you have is much more in depth. Thanks, KC ------------------------------

    3. Tyler Co. Researchers, It's been so quiet on this list that I had to check to see if I got bounced. I bet you all thought that I was just ignoring Tyler Co. but I've been real busy. Thought maybe all the new lists on RootsWeb might have bumped our whole list off but if this shows up then we're still on, just being quite and playing possum. I guess we don't really have to worry about DIGEST MODE just yet. <G> I've been working on a 1850 "Working" Census of Tyler Co. This is a kind of "electronic experiment" because I haven't seen any one else try it. I did one for Newton Co. and I've gotten several responses with additional information. I'm not nearly finished entering all the information I already have but I'm going to let the people on this list have the first views of it. Be sure and "Bookmark" it, because it's not linked to the Tyler Co. Homepage yet. I don't even have the introduction finished yet. http://www.rootsweb.com/~txtyler/census/tyr50_01.htm Also I've been working on a new Query-Surname System that will be indexed and linked. Doing it with a new software program. It should be ready in a few days.
