Dear Tyler County, Texas Rooters. I am researching the family of Silas Syd Hammerly. He was born about 1859 in PA. He married Mary Humphreys 25-SEP-1879 in Walker Co., TX. Their only child was Zemma Hammerly b.1885 d.1936. Zemma was supposedly born in Livingston, Polk Co., TX, but I have found no record of her birth there or in Walker Co., TX. Zemma m.Charles Linder Ivy (b.1878 d.1962) in Hampton, Tyler Co., TX on 04-AUG-1901. I have much info on their descendants. According to the daughter of Charle and Zemma Ivy, Lela Idell Ivy Woods, of Jasper, Jasper Co., TX, Zemma's mother died when she was less than a year old. Zemma then went to live with her grandparents in Walker Co., TX. I can find no record of Zemma in any census in either Tyler Co. or Walker Co. Zemma's father remarried to Finze E. Culpepper in Tyler Co., TX 21-FEB-1888. In the Tyler Co., TX courthouse I found a birth record for Georgia M. Hammerly b.17-JUN-1903 with Father as S. S. Hammerly and Mother as Fannie. In the 1910 census in San Jacinto Co., TX I found the following: Hamerly, Hiram age 47 " Linnie age38 wife " Jewell age 16 dau " Claudie age14 dau " Irene age 9 dau " Marie age 7 dau (Must be Georgia M. above b. 1903) In the 1920 census in Walker Co., TX I found the following: Hamerly, Tinnie age 47 " Jewell age 25 son " Irene age 18 dau " Marie age 16 dau " Claudie age 22 dau My question is where is Silas Syd? Why would he be listed as Hiram in the 1910 census? If he died between 1910 and 1920, where did he die and where is he buried? Any help on these mysteries will be greatly appreciated. I have quite a bit of info on Silas' brothers who also came to Tyler Co., TX and married into the Barnes family. I will be happy to share with anyone researching any of the above names for like reciprocation. La Vera (Brasuell) Caruthers [email protected]

Greetings! I have been watching the messages fly by, and I suppose I should go ahead and get my feet wet. Please bear with me, I am new at this. My name is Marie Bayles, I live in Willis, TX, (north of Conroe) and I started working on my family tree after my second open heart surgery in November. Yes, I've been there and done that , TWICE! My parents were divorced before I was born, so the paternal side of my family is a complete mystery. I know my father's name, and since I finally met my dad three weeks ago, I have a little more information to go on. However, since my dad is in his fifties, and my great aunt is in her late 70's, names and dates are in question. I am searching for Marion Albert SLOAN, b. 1 Feb 1887, d. Oct 1965. He was born either in Tx or La. He married Alice Idella BROWN, b. 16 June 1889, d. Jan 1978/79. Alice was suppose to be from the Doucette area. And thanks to KC Hale, I know they were living in the Steele Grove area in 1920. Alice had a sister, name unknown, that married a BEARD. Marion Albert and Alice are suppose to be buried in the Doucette area along with two children that died young. Does anyone have idea where they may be buried, or have any connections to this family at all? I know they were married prior to 1900 Census, which at the time they were living in Polk Co. I have no idea when or where they were married. They had three surviving children: Frank Albert; Elmer (female), and Cecil Eugene (my grandfather). I would appreciate any help, any suggestions, or any advice. Thanks ------------------------------
