Edward Vinson VINZANT (married to Emily WOMACK) and his brother John N. VINZANT, Jr. (married to Jane SIMS) moved to Trinity Co., TX from Smith Co., MS in the mid 1850's. Both served in Co. E, 7th TX Mounted Vol. Cav. during the Civil War. Edward eventually moved to San Saba County. Two of his daughters married McCARTY brothers. Another daughter married Jefferson REYNOLDS, then John NORSWORTHY, then W. L. ASHWORTH. Son John Columbus VINZANT married Jane BUTLER. John N. VINZANT, Jr. had one daughter who married Mitchell TULLOS. Son Olford married Lucinda MERCHANT. Another son Brown or Alford may have been a local lawman at one time.
