My copy of Sweat Families of the South attributes only one son named John to Ephraim Alonzo Dial. Says he was the son of Ephraim & his 1st wife Mary A Brownlee. John Lewis Dial 18 May 1870 - 24 Jul 1884 (age 14). That's not to say that Ephraim didn't have an additional son named John, but I thought I'd toss out the information to you in the hope that it helps your research. Looking at the online cemetery listing for Dean Cemetery, I'm thinking he's the John listed there with his full brother Dave (David) and his father & grandparents.
