These are my great grandparents. I have a bunch of kin folk buried in Holly Cemetery. I would like to trace these lines back a bit, so I can add it to my genealogy software, to make a family mini book for the upcoming reunion I am throwing. Any and all help would be appreciated. Even the smallest of info, could lead me to a mountain of information. Thanks for reading/helping Terri

Clementine Desessarts (also spelled Desesats or Dessasar or a variety of other ways) married Pierre De La Fosse (Delafosse). Pierre was b. on 3/20/1816 in LA & he died in Henderson Co., TX on 9/9/1879. Clementine was b. in LA on 5/19/1823 & died @ Trinity Station, TX 9/20/1876. Pierre was called "Caddy" because he came to TX from Caddo Parish, LA. He & Clementine had a son named Charles Henry De La Fosse & he went to TX in 1849. He was b. in 1860. Any connection? Hi Folks, I've been on this list for a couple of years as OahuShoe@aol.com. Have just changed my email address to the one listed above. Why Trinity County? Ancestors from Mom's side of our family came to and through Groveton from points east. Atmar, Frisby, Ingram, Platt, and Stevenson are the surnames. Great grandmother was Callie (Platt) Stevenson. My grandparents were Callie's daughter Aurie and her husband Rex Atmar. Mom was Betty Jo Atmar Ballard who married Richard Wayne Ballard. My sisters are Sherry Robb Ballard and Lynne Atmar Cooksey. We kids even had the good fortune to live in and go to school in Groveton for a couple of months in... probably 1959... before Dad's reassignment to the embassy in Warsaw, Poland. A couple of marriage lookups I have pending are: Judge Andrew Monroe Campbell & Carrie Belle McIntyre, probably after 1875, and Rev. Victor A. Godbey and Civility (Siddie) Platt Stevenson, probably after 1920. Aunt Siddie was Callie Stevenson's half-sister and was previously married to Dr. Joe Stevenson. Aloha, Richard Ballard

I believe I had written those dates down at one time but couldn't find them. It makes me wonder now if the person that typed up daddy's birth certific made a mistake since the birth dates for Grandpa and Granny are backwards on daddy's birth certificate. Grandpa died 25 years before I was born so I never kenw him or much about him. May I please ask how you got this information? Linda

Lathan was a trustee of the New Prospect School that was at the Congregational Methodist Church at Thornton in the late 1890s. He was also on the board of education for Saron Public Schools in 1916. It indicates Mitchell Combs Smith (1853-1900) and Josephine A. Lott (1862-1899) were the parents of Arch E. Smith (1887-1968) of Boontown, TX who married Rosa Ebeby Evans (1893-1974) of Saron, TX. There is an article that mentions an Abb Lott, a Confederate solider who was married to Mary Gassiott. They are buried in Boontown Cemetery and had a daughter Delphene Cardilla Lott (1862-1901) who married Nathan James Fussell (1850-1898). Hope this helps a little!

William and Caroline's children James W. and Joseph A. Sherwood stayed behind when the family moved to Wood Co. in the mid 1860's.
I have recently checked a book out of the library that gives dates of people who are buried there. I will have this book until February 9, 2003. The most current death date I have found is June 7, 1980 and the book is copyrighted in 1980. If anyone needs this information, please send me the information asap and I will try to help you.
