The information in the book relating to Ephraim Alonzo Dial was attributed to someone named Nannette C Burleson. I don't know her or her sources and all I can do is quote you what was in the book. All it says regarding this marriage of Ephraim Alonzo Dial is that: "Somewhere in NC he had doubtlessly stopped to work and recuperate. Here he met and m (1st) 1 Aug 1865 Mary A. Brownlee". This info from page 57 of Sweat Families of the South, 2002 Revised Edition Copyright 1998 by Erbon W Wise Now the 1880 Trinity Co, census says that the children of this couple (David B, Mary A, and Jno. L) were born in SC. I took a quick look @ Ancestry.com looking for the marriage & didn't find anything. Additional digging might come up with something. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

My copy of Sweat Families of the South attributes only one son named John to Ephraim Alonzo Dial. Says he was the son of Ephraim & his 1st wife Mary A Brownlee. John Lewis Dial 18 May 1870 - 24 Jul 1884 (age 14). That's not to say that Ephraim didn't have an additional son named John, but I thought I'd toss out the information to you in the hope that it helps your research. Looking at the online cemetery listing for Dean Cemetery, I'm thinking he's the John listed there with his full brother Dave (David) and his father & grandparents. Can you tell me who is buried @ Saron & Trinity cemeteries and their dob & dod? Contact me by email & we can share how we descend & discover how we fit in on each other's tree.

I'm related to Harriet Mary Sweat through both her parents, Gideon "Gadi" Sweat & Letittia (Letha/Letty) Johnson. Gadi's sister, Mary Sweat (who m the 2nd Isaac Perkins) is my maternal GGGGgrandmother. Another of Gadi's sisters, Nancy Sweat, married Letittia's brother Gideon Johnson. Nancy & Gideon are both my maternal AND paternal GGGGgrandparents. I've been following the Dials in Trinity County for a short time & have found the online cemetery listing for Dean Cemetery & for Possum Walk (East Prairie) Cemetery. Matilda's brother, Ephraim, married 2nd to Nancy Ula Pollan (who m 1st Joseph Smith). According to Sweat Families of the South, Nancy, who died 30 Jan 1888 was not buried in Dean Cemetery (which was within walking distance) but in Trinity at the insistence of her father, Anson Pollan, because he didn't want her buried in a remote country cemetery. Think I have all that down right (consider any errors to be mine). Do you have her dob & dod from her headstone & do you know which cemetery she is buried in? Also, would you be willing to share with me names, dob & dod of those buried in Saron Cemetery? Would also love to have a copy of Herschel Brannen's article if possible. Will gladly share information. You can contact me by email & we can talk privately, if you wish. Thanks in advance!

    3. Is there anyone that will be making a trip to the Court House soon? If so, I would appreciate a favor. I am trying to locate the descendants of a Mr. P. H. Cauthan, that was an attorney for Trinity National Bank, back in 1948. Perhaps there is a will in the courthouse that might provide information as to his descendants, that I might be able to contact. I understand that there was a Mr. P. H. Cauthan Sr., and Jr., and I do not know the ages of either Sr. or Jr., nor do I know if they lived in Trinity, TX or surrounding area. Thanks, Sallie Cannon

Surnames: Strother, Womack, Johnson, Willis, Maricle Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VlB.2ACE/468.2 Message Board Post: Angela - Have been searching for William Strother, son of Richard (b 1806). William is in his father's house (651/651) on the 1850 Rapides Parish census enumerated 1 Nov 1850. In looking for William, I discovered William Strother 50 born LA, wife Martha 46, and children Melissa 22, William W 21, Candacy 18, and Anna A 6 in Precinct 4 of the 1880 Trinity Co, TX census. As Johnson, Willis & Maricles I'm researching were also in Trinity Co, I figured perhaps this was "my" William. I've seen on the Trinity Co Rootsweb site that Melissa married T R Womack 18 Nov 1880 in Trinity Co. I'm a direct descendant of William's brother, Alexander Asaria Strother, Sr. Hoping to hear from you soon.
