It is old but they do have newspaper (Crockett Courior I think) on fiche and it goes back to late 1800's. Also have many old documents (letters, legal papers, etc) glued into spiral notebooks. There is a wealth of info available to you. I live in Spring, Tx and if you are ever interested in taking a road trip to Groveton let me know...I would love to go back and spend the day researching. I am researching the Gary-Aldridge connection. Who are researching?

Wilson settled near Augusta, TX, in Houston County (near Trinity Co.) in 1835. He was born in 1804 in Kentucky?, married Nancy Cannon in 1828 in Lafayette Co, AR, possibly lived in Claiborne Parish, LA in 1830, was tax assessor of St. Francisville, LA around 1834, got a Spanish land grant in Houston County in 1835. He came to Texas with two brothers, James B. Wilson and John Wilson. We don't know where James B. and John ended up in Texas. One of them may have had a child born probably in LA. G.W.Wilson's first child, Easter Wilson, was born in LA. His other children were William J. Wilson, Clarinda Matilda Wilson, Lucinda E. Wilson, and Eliza E. Wilson. Easter Wilson married Benjamin M. Bracken. They lived briefly in Trinity Co. around 1860 according to the census. Then they went back to Houston County. I don't know if any of this is helpful. Marcella Snow Louisiana

Russell b. 01 Aug 1835 d. 08 Apr 1925 at Trinity Cedar Grove Cemetery. He is the only Russell listed at that particular cemetery but there are 10 others shown as buried in the county. This is a large cemetery located on Main St. in Trinity. It is approx. 18 acres so you might want to contact someone before your trip to locate the gravesite. I would suggest contacting the Historical Society for guidance. Let me know if I can look anyone else up for you. Have a safe trip!

At the TCHC Meeting yesterday I was talking to Elaine Lockhart. She is very knowledgiable about TC History and was the County Clerk many years. She said their was a murder long ago connected to a Johnson in that area and the people wanted to change the name of the Cemetery. There are many more Tullos' buried there than Johnsons. The Tc website may list it with both names as we did the Lane Prarie-Hill Cemetery in Glendale area. Many of our Tc Cemeteries have "lost graves" or those who's stones have been moved, damaged,or become illegiable. When a Family member tells us they are positive their loved ones are buried in one such we do not question it but add them to the list. It is my understanding this Cemetery Cemetery is not on private land and can be visited anytime. The stones were last read in Jan. 1992 and there were 15 unmarked graves apparent at that time. This Cemetery is on our list to "walk" and update right after Pennington and Groveton Glenwood which at! re both large Cemeteries, weather permitting.Virginia Arnold and I canvass them, sometimes with help for TCHC.
