Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/VlB.2ACE/911.1.1.2.2.1.1 Message Board Post: Please note that I have a new e-mail address. I'm still at the same old stand reseaching my family names: Marsh, Morgan, Wilcox, Hooper, Knox and a host of others. Sarah Ann Rook, sister of Catherine, was the first wife of Dillard Leroy Marsh, son of James E. Marsh and Sarah Lavina Mainer. Sarah and Dillard had three children, Sam, Mollie, and Nora Elizabeth (Betty) Marsh. Sarah died shortly after the birth of Betty. Family history indicates all the children were born in Southwest Texas where Sarah and Dillard went to make their home after their marriage in the Bethel Church at Colita. Our history also shows Dillard Leroy married two more times and fathered a total of twelve children by his three marriages.

What I do have was sent to me by Art Morgan, who you will see replied to my posting. He had a little info on the sister of my Catherine Rook Reid who married into the Marsh family which gave a clue as to what happened to her. You might post to his message and get more info. Seems like is a member of the Trinity Genealogy Society, or something like that. I am unable to locate our communications at the moment. Sorry I can't be of more help.

My husband is Thad Hardin Marsh, son of Garvis Carlton Marsh, son of Carlton Needham Marsh, son of Evander Needham Marsh, son of Manton Marsh. I believe it was Evander Needham who attended that funeral. We have known nothing about the Marsh family past my husband's grandfather, Carlton Needham Marsh. We learned in 1991 the name of his great grandfather, Evander Needham, who was married twice. His second wife was Cummie Carlton from Trinity Co. I am looking for information also on any other children born from this marriage.

    1. J.B. Merchant
    2. I am seeking information about my grandfather, J.B. Merchant, who was known to be in the Southeast TX Region from 1897-1900; Polk Co.-1897, Tyler-1899, Hardin-1900, Zwolle, Sabine Parish, LA-1902. In 1879, he *may* have gotten married, his 2nd marriage, in Sabine Co., TX & there were children from that marriage. A daughter by his first wife was probably living with him. It appears that J.B. moved quiet often so he may not have been in Sabine Co. very long. His 3rd wife was my grandmother. My dad & an uncle were born in TX in 1897 & 1899. People in Montgomery Co. in 1958, who may have had some connection to J.B. were, Robert & Jodie Sweet. Mrs. Sweet had a sister who lived in Conroe; a sister, Neoma, who lived in Houston; another sister, Mrs. Johnson, who lived in Trinity; & a brother J.B., last name & residence, unknown but probably lived in Trinity or Montgomery. Any information on either of these families would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, in advance for any help that you can give me.
