Ida Walker, born 10/20/1885, Rapides Parish, La, married John RODIGO 7/25/1918 in Rapides parish. They were still in Rapides Parish in the 1920 census. A daughter was born to them in 1925 - by that time they had moved to Galveston, TX (later to Houston, TX). A divorce suit was filed between John and Ida in the year 1927 under cause number 141520 in Harris County, TX. However the case was dismissed. I cannot find Ida nor the daughter in the 1930 census. John Rodrigo is boarding and gives his marital status as divorced. On March 9, 1944 John RODRIGO signs an affadavit of Lunacy saying that he believes Ida WALKER is insane or mentally ill and should be committed to an institution. On April 7, 1944 she is committed to the State Hospital in Austin, TX. Because of privacy issues, (Ida WALKER RODRIGO is my mother's sister) I have been unable to get any information concerning her. I cannot find out if she was transferred to another state institution or if she spent her remaining days in Austin. She was committed as Ida WALKER. Therefore, I have tried to find her death date hoping to send for a death certificate. One kind researcher found several Ida WALKER deaths throughout the state of Texas. One that is of interest to me is Ida WALKER who died in Travis County January 18, 1945. Is there a listing somewhere that will give this Ida WALKER'S birthdate or place? I went to the Texas Vital Records website and I find that it now costs $20.00 for a death certificate. Before I send for it, I would like to verify this is the right Ida WALKER. Floreda
