It takes at least 3 weeks to get it. You can go to the link below, then go down to by mail instructions and print out the application. http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/health/vitalrecs.htm D'Ann ----- Original Message ----- From: Tallygators To: TXTRAVIS-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, January 10, 2006 5:02 AM Subject: [TXTRAVIS] Help getting death certificate I am trying to get the death certificate for my aunt, Ida Walker, who died January 18, 1945 in Austin. I have gone to Texas Vital Records site and started filling out the form to order on line. Since I am a niece (and not a close member of the family) it appears that the only way I can order a death certificate is if I send in an overnight application for birth or death record. That is the only form that will allow me to fill it out completely. I have to print out the form and fill it out, sending in my fee plus a copy of my driver's license. One problem with this is that it will cost me $20.00 plus $5.00 expedited charge, plus USP overnight $8.00 or Express mail $13.65. Then I will have to send the application using an ovenight mail service (UPS, USPS Expess mail or Fedex (Not USPS Priority or certified mail). I called the office and was given instructions (above). It seems there must be another way. Can someone verify that I have the instructions correct?
