    2. Sandy Wallace
    3. I am seeking information on Howell Finch and his mother Amelia Howell Finch, found in the Travis County census in 1880. Amelia was born in Ohio abt. 1828 and her son Howell was born in Kentucky about 1852. Howell Finch's father was named Mallory,Marvin or possibly Marcus and is found with the family in Maysville, Kentucky in 1860. The father most likely died and Amelia moved with her son Howell and his wife Mary Stanley Phister Finch to Texas. He is found in the 1900 census still in Austin. His mother,Amelia has probably died at this point. He is a traveling salesman and has the following children: Howell Finch, Jr., Stanley P. Finch, and Herbert Finch. I would like to know where Amelia Howell Finch and Howell Finch are buried. Any information on this family or cemeteries active in Austin between 1880 and 1900 greatly appreciated. Sandy California

    2. There have been several requests for help lately. If you will be more specific in your needs, one us should be able to help you. Also if you post on the Travis County message board, someone usually assists with those requests. Kay

    3. Thanks so much for contacting me. The only surname I would be searching for at this time is Ledbetter and I found Washington Ledbetter listed in the cemetery index on Littig. My ggrandfather's parents are my brick wall in researching my Ledbetter ancestry. My ggrandfather William Henry Ledbetter, wife Jennettie Francis Bomar Ledbetter, (her name is spelled several ways on census but this is the correct spelling. Wm Henry's parents are not shown on any documentation we can find and I have his will, dth cert and a lot of other documentation. . I started the research in 1998. I would love to have anything available on Washington and any other Ledbetters near Austin in the 1840-1850's. I will check the internet for sites on Littig, TX and see if I can find the cemetery records on Washington, and then go to my regular genealogy sites to researach him further. A questionaire that two of Wm Henry's children, Carrie Zenith Ledbetter ("Zenith") and John Watson Ledbetter filled out for the publication of a book on the Ledbetters in the 1930's stated that my ggrandfather William Henry Ledbetter's parents first names were unknown to the family but it was believed his mother's maiden name was Craig, from Mississippi and his father died shortly after Wm Henry was born 12/5/1843 near Austin, Texas. What "shortly after 1843" entails could be about anything, of course. Wm Henry came to TX in 1857 (at 14 yrs old) but I'm not sure where he lived until he showed up on the 1860 Lamar County, Texas census. He enrolled for the Civil War in Lamar County, TX 9/28/1861 and he is in the Rusk County, TX 1860 census. He lived in San Saba, TX from the end of the Civil War (in which he served) until he died in 1918. Thanks so much for contacting me.
