> I am searching for John C. Dawdy family members.. Hello, I checked our recent book, _Terry County, Texas_ (Heritage Publishing, 2002), and found one Dawdy in the index. The article "Leonidas and Talitha Dawdy Baldwin" is rather lengthy and is more about the Baldwins than the Dawdy's, but it does say that Talitha L. Dawdy was born April 16, 1854, in Will County, Illinois. She died May 26, 1932, in Brownfield, Texas. Leonidas and Talitha married May 25, 1872, and they had three sons, William Jesse, George Thomas, and Charles Randolph. They had a farm near Oxville, Illinois. There is a picture of Leonidas and Talitha. Both are buried here in Terry County, Texas. Mr. E. A. "Arnold" Baldwin is the submitter of the information. He and his wife live here in Brownfield, but they are not online, as far as I know. The Terry County Historical Commission still has about 160 books (713 pages; 9x12 size) left if you would like to have one. They are $65.00 plus $5.00 s&h. Another option is to check with your local library and see if they will purchase one for their genealogy/regional collection. The book has many family histories, but it also has a good deal of regional history as well. If anyone wants a book, they can mail a check to Terry County Historical Commission, P. O. Box 1015, Brownfield, TX 79316.
