He d: 1940 she d: 1938. Like to hear from anyone who can find them for me. Unable to read the 1910 C. Can anyone name their children. Thanks Sorry, but off-hand I do not remember that particular family of Lewises. We do, however, have some Lewises in Terry County Historical Commission's new _Terry County, Texas_ book (pub 2002). It has over 700 pages so there may be clues to your family if you have a chance to look at the book. If you do not want to purchase one, you might ask your genealogy librarian to purchase one for their collection. E-mail me if you are interested and I'll send the particulars. We have a Tate Street here in Brownfield as well as other streets that were named for early settlers, Cardwell, Reppto (Rippetoe), Hester, etc. Betty Historian, Terry County Historical Commission -- Betty Dawn DuBose Hamilton Paternal: DuBose~Morgan~Smith~Pitts~Pynes~Hampton: SC>FL>AL>TX Maternal: Cook~Polk~Wooten~McDonald~Sowders~Rodgers: TN>TX Please look at our Family Mystery Album: http://home.att.net/~bhamilt mailto:bhamilt@att.net

    3. > I am also looking for a write up on their 50th wedding anniversary. Hello Bobby, Since I am tied up with other things, I, personally, would not have time to search through microfilm, but the Brownfield News allows you to look through it yourself. Also, I believe the Southwest Collection at Texas Tech has copies of the microfilm of the old newspapers of Terry County. If you can't travel to Brownfield to look through the microfilm, you might see if you can obtain copies through interlibrary loan. I know that the Brownfield News would not send their microfilm out, but SWC at Tech might allow interlibrary loan. Also, since the LDS libraries have so much material, they may also be able to send microfilm of the newspapers. They would have been married 50 years in 1925, I don't have the exact date. I am hoping they had a write up in the paper. They both came from Hamilton Co, TN , before they came to Texas and most of their children were born in TN, but I can't find where they were married in 1875. The marriage date is estimated from census records. If you can help me, I would sincerely appreciate it. Bobby Wichita Falls TX

    3. Hello, I don't know if your Travises are the same ones I have known, but a couple of them still live here. Virgel Travis owned a cotton gin in Brownfield in the 1950s. Virgel is deceased. He had a son Dale who graduated from school here about 1953; I think he lives in Lubbock. His youngest son, Mickey, still lives here, as does Virgel's wife Margaret. If it is the same family, perhaps I can send you information for getting in touch.
