They publish a super magazine called CONFEDERATE VETERAN, and have since 1883 when they were called the UNITED CONFEDERATE VETERANS (UCV) which you may have seen the initials on many Confederate graves. You may find past copies or reprints of the CONFEDERATE VETERAN in fine libraries. Look for the year that your John Griffin passed, and locate that year in the magazine. Confederate Veterans published the death of their comrades in the magazine which identified his exact regiment, such as Co. "L", 10th SC Reg'mt. Good luck and don't give up!
