This is my first post to this Forum. I am seeking any information regarding my ggrandfather's parents, brothers, sisters, birth place and death place. Here is the following information I have on my ggrandfather: J. (John) F. SMITH enlisted 30 September '1861 at Whites Bridge (Georgetown, SC), then military Marion District, SC as a Pvt. into Co. "L", 10th Reg't South Carolina Inf. C.S.A. by Col. Arthur Manigault. He served as the Reg't Wagon Master. John was commissioned in the field as 2nd Lieut. near Shelbyville, TN on 26 February '1863 reporting to Col. Loomis as Commdg. Hosp. Guard at Atlanta. John F. SMITH served honorably for the duration of the War Between the States, but "refused" to take the Oath of Allegiance to the union. In '1870, John F. SMITH is found/listed in the Dallas County, TX census (324) living at a dwelling (number 110) identifying his last resident as SC. John married Fannie J. HATFIELD, b: 27 April '1856 Arkansas and d: 01 September '1908 in Ft. Worth, Tarrant County, TX. They were married on 25 December '1871 in Dallas County, TX. The father of Fannie J. HATFIELD was John HATFIELD b: 22 March '1817 in McMinn County (later Meigs) TN. d: (no date) Mena, Polk County, Arkansas. He was married first to Nancy GRAY on 24 October '1838 in Meigs County, TN, and second to Anna K. MARCHBANKS on 25 June 1863 in Independence County, Arkansas. My gggrandmother was Nancy GRAY. The marriage of John F. SMITH and Fannie J. Hatfield produced the following ten (10) children: 1- Minnie Lee, b: November '1871 TX 2- William S., b: 15 January '1874 d: ~'1882 TX 3- John F., b: 22 June '1876 TX d: ~ '1882 TX 4- Dona, b: ~ '1877 TX (d: very young) TX 5- Luther, b: ~ 1877 TX 6- Isaac Warren, my grandfather, b: 07 February '1879 in Cedar Hill, Dallas County, TX d: '1948 in the Rail Road Hospital at Marshall, TX. He was the Station Master of the Texas and Pacific RR in Fort Worth, TX. * Isaac Warren SMITH married Martha L. WEST b: 28 April '1876 NC d: 11 July '1942 at Fort Worth, Tarrant County, TX. Martha's father was Robert O. WEST b: Caldwell County, NC. 7- Charles B., b: January '1883 TX 8- Eugene C., b: August '1887 TX 9- Volcent A., b: November '1889 TX 10 Robert R., b: March '1893 TX John F. SMITH served in the Texas Rangers, Co. "G", Minute Men, Brown County, TX from 14 November '1872 to 29 March '1874. His Commdg. Officer was Capt. George H. Adams. I have no information of the disposition of the remains of my ggrandfather. No grave, marker, or location has ever been found .... anywhere! Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.
