I am trying to find some information as to listings on the Tax List for 1864. I have just come across this listing "Byas, Robert heirs of paid by L.A. Byes". This obviously refers to the desceased Robert Byas. My questions are, was this a list made of real property owners in the county? Would this indicate that Robert did own property in the county? Would this indicate that the estate was in the process of being settled? Since the Court House burned in 1876 is there any other place that an estate settlement may be recorded? I believe that this may be my long lost Robert that everyone has been looking for in Louisana. Thanks, Peter Coke HPeterCoke@aol.com
