Dear Jean, In one of your E-Mail letters, I remember you or someone there wanting to know if we had other listings of people in cemeteries. While looking for the list I copied out of the Lonesome Dove Cemetery registor, I found the material about Allen Hill who is buried beside his wife Malinda. I hope you can use it and of course, it will probley need re-writting. Please use this material as you see fit. God Bless and take care, alot of us like and enjoy the hard work all of you are doing. James Manford Dwight. P.S. I will find that partical listing. There is more important material in there. Allen Hill Allen Hill is burried in the Lonesome Dove Cemetery in Grapevine, Tarrant County, Texas. He is burried along side Malinda Hill, who was his wife and my Great Grandmother by her first husband, George E. Dwight. There is little known about Allen. I have reason to beleve that his name included the name Eli but for now I can not prove it. But the following is what I do have for your approval. His name was Allen Hill, who was born June 3, 1839 in Ill.. He was the son of John T. Hill (b. 1805 or 1806 in N. C. and married July 17, 1829 in Lawrence Co., Alabama to Nancy Mc Gaughey Mc Cain, who was born 1805 or 1806 in Tennessee. They had William H. Hill (b. 1830 in Lawrence Co., Ala.); John H. Hill (b. Dec. 14, 1836 in Ala.); Eli Allen Hill (b. June 3, 1839 in Ill.); Sarah Jane Hill (b. Oct. 10, 1843 in Tippah Co., Miss.) and Lucinda Grace Hill (b. Dec. 23, 1845 in Tippah Co., Miss.) They moved to Upshur County, Texas in 1848, then to Grayson Co., Denton County, and settled in Tarrant county. (Letter from Mrs. Jeanette Hays, 2305 Sunshine Road, Pearcy, Ar., 71964, March 8, 1984 writes that her Great Grandfather (Eli Allen Hill had two childern named Amanda Jane Hill born May 22, 1872 (her Grandmother) and died in 1912 and Elmer Allen Hill born Aug. 11, 1883 and died May 20, 1954.) Allin's death is mentioned by his Step son Frank M. Dwight. The following is from Frank's letter which was written in 1890's at Willow Point, Wise County, Texas: When Frank came home from the Civil War, he found that his step-father, Allen Hill, had died. According to what his step son had written; Allen must have been a very kind person. Allen was a Campbilite by religus demonination. However, Allen would invite a Baptist preacher to his house so that all of the children could learn about the Bible. And that act left Francis with a lasting impression that followed him all the days of his life and as a result, his children were brought into the church. And that church was the Lonesome Dove Church. The Hill family buried in the Lonesome Dove Cemetery.
