    3. When the aircraft plant opened in the 40's, it was known as Consolidated Aircraft, a.k.a., I think Air Force Plant #4. They made thousands of B-24 Liberator Bombers. It was later bought and renamed as General Dynamic, a.k.a. 'GD'. Several years ago, it was bought by Lockheed, the name it is now known. The AF Base (Carswell) is now a Joint_Reserve Base for all military services. -----Original Message----- From: Daniel Chenault [mailto:DanielC@trinity.mensa.net] Sent: Tuesday, July 27, 1999 2:42 PM To: TXTARRAN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [TXTARRAN-L] half-brother search You're right; it was Lockheed, not McDonnell-Douglas. There was a plant there in the 40's though; my dad worked there before he joined the Army. I had always thought it was GD back then. Carswell was open during the 40's and as far as I know it had that same name, though it would have been an Army-Air base (the Air Force did not exist as a separate branch until 1948). > -----Original Message----- > From: Voss, Terry D [mailto:terry.d.voss@lmco.com] > Sent: Tuesday, July 27, 1999 2:32 PM > To: TXTARRAN-L@rootsweb.com; 'Daniel Chenault' > Subject: RE: [TXTARRAN-L] half-brother search > > > This water is getting a little muddy.
