Hi! I have just received info. that my great-grandmother, Fannie J. Hatfield, was buried in the Tye/Oak Grove Cemetery in Burleson. She passed away and was buried sometime in 1907. Does anyone out there know of an index for this cemetery? Or is there possibly a cemetery association that takes care of it's maintenance that I could contact for information as to where her grave might be located? Any help or info. will be greatly appreciated.... Pat Dugan e-mail address: pdugan1217@aol.colm

I have an interesting situation that some of you might have run into. My cousin sent me a copy of both my grandparents birth certificate. At the time of their death they both lived in Fort Worth. When my grandfather died evidently my grandmother needed a copy of her birth certificate and a copy of his. So, the copy of these certificates that I have are ones that were "created" in Fort Worth, Tarrant County. My grandmother (according to her and all other information I have) was born in Michigan and my grandfather was born in Louisiana and each "Certified Copy of Certificate of Birth, State of Texas" show these different states on each of their certificates as their Place of Birth. One was born 1883 and one 1878 but both "created" birth certificates have 1883 and a lot of other misinformation. I had previously ordered a birth certificate from Michigan on my grandmother but I received a response back saying that there wasn't one filed. I don't think Louisiana was keeping birth certificates in 1883 where my grandfather was born. So, my question is this. How can they be born in other states and get "created" birth certificates from Texas. I know it was done for my grandmother to get my grandfather's SS in 1952 but wondered if anyone else has dealt with this situation. I was wondering if anyone knew what backup information they would have needed to get these created. I was a bit taken back, as you might imagine, when I received these copies. There are certificate numbers on them. My grandparents were Charles and Kittie Cornett Would appreciate any light on this. Pat

Am searching for any information on Ed Wilson (real name Edwin Clayton) who did "Balloon ascensions" and "death-defying parachute Leaps" in the Fort Worth area. He owned the Fort Worth Balloon Company and performed at fairs, parks, reunions and other public gatherings. Between 1900-1935. Thanks. Linda
Hello, I am new to the list but dont know why since my mother was born and raised in Ft. Worth. I am searching for W. Russell Lambeth. I know that he was in Ft. Worth in August of 1935 and lived in the 4000 blk of Hemphill in an apt/boardinghouse. He worked at Southland Ice Co. He was probably in his late 30's/early 40's in 1935. I am trying to find any relatives or anyone that could help with employees of Southland Ice Co. or Census records for 1930 and 1940. Thank you in advance. Sincerely, Kathleen Baxter sbaxter@peoplescom.net

Until recently, I wasn't one to read obituaries. Today I was sorting out some magazines and newspapers while cleaning house for my husband's upcoming hearing aid Open House. I found a small pile of his recent Kiwanis Ki-Notes papers. If you had a relative in OK or TX that passed away recently and you know was in Kiwanis, you might be interested in the small obit this paper placed in their honor. All but four are males. I will type the surnames in the order they appear, putting an f- in front of those four females. Most of the mentions are very brief but a few give a little more info. If you think one of them might be yours, please email me privately as it may be awhile before I get around to reading my list mail. I now have 70 unread Digest Mode messages, equal to over 1000 posts. Besides being busy getting ready for the Open House, I have been in a wheel chair almost two weeks due to a fractured ankle. Hi Everyone! Last week I got into a conversation on the Virginia Roots list about the circuit-riding preacher, Lorenzo Dow. Lots of us have a Lorenzo Dow 'Somebody' in our data. Since I have a lot of information about the 'original' Lorenzo Dow, they asked if I would post a web page about him. He was born in 1777 in Coventry, CT. Well, I ran home from work and put up the Lorenzo Dow page after supper! I hope you find it interesting. He was something! I can just see him jumping out of a church window onto a horse and riding away shouting that he would be back one year from the day! He did, too! The site is: http://www.acun.com/dentons The link to the article about Lorenzo Dow is about half way down the first page. I hope you enjoy the stories! Blessings! Sue Montgomery-Cook

I don't remember info on Tarrant Co cemeteries. I doubt if many of my BOAZMANs left there but I have no info except what is on the 1900 census for the Joseph Wallis BOAZMAN family and last names of 3 daughter's husbands and one daughter's family. She was the only grandparent I ever knew, Alice Lucille BOAZMAN--BAILEY, the founder of tiny Gracemont, OK, in 1904, which was named after one of Alice's friends in Tarrant Co, Grace Montgomery--or possibly two friends. I have a few dates from that census but nothing on other family members' families. If anyone has anymore info for me, please speak up! :) T. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Have an Actually Better Day. Hello everyone, I'm way behind on email. So, I apologize in advance if this has already been stated. In going through my Parker Co. info recently, I realized that the 1870 Parker Co., census lists Tarrant Co. P.O. as a township. Hope this helps someone. My family seemed to make the trek between Johnson, Tarrant and Parker counties. Thanks to Linda, who gave great info about cemeteries in Tarrant County. When I saw that Pruitt inquiry, I got out my copy of an 1895 map of Tarrant county, which has names of owners of land at the time as well as where cemeteries and churches and schools were. I did not find the name "Pruitt" but the map does show my grandparents' places, including Campbell McCarty's land near Roanoke, as well as the place I was born (called Thompson land then) in what is now Smithfield. Many of the names on the map are of my relatives, or people my parents knew. I cant remember where I bought the map some years ago, but I would be glad to look for names, etc. Anelle McCarty Kloski

Pruitt b. May 27, 1874 d. July 11, 1932 Wife Mary W. Pruitt b. July 30, 1874 d. no date on head stone Other Pruitt's in this book are, Alva F.; Dave Henry; Florence Lorene; Henry C.; Henry F.; John W.; Lucy A.; Mollie W.; Retha Fay; Ruby Belle; Susie M.; and Verner Lee. Robert J. and Mary W. are the only two buried in the Birdville Cemetery. The others are buried in the Grapevine Cemetery, and one in the Calloway Cemetery, and in the Smithfield Cemetery, all Cemeteries in the same area of Tarrant Co. Texas. Smithfield and Birdville are right next door to each other. I hope this helps, if any of the other Pruitt's are related let me know and I will send the info from the book to you. Here is what it says about the Birdville Cemetery quoted from the book by Evelyn D'Arcy Cushman, published and copyrighted in 1981: LOCATION: On Cemetery Road in Haltom City one block south of Haltom High School and one block east of the intersection of the 9000 block of East Belknap (State Highway 183) and Carson Street. In 1952 tombstone inscriptions of persons born before 1875 were copied by DAR. A more complete recording was made in 1965 and published by Mrs. Bailey Ray in her book "History of Birdville." A list of markers missing since those recordings is included in this report. Birdville was the first County Seat of Tarrant County Texas. On July 5, 1949 it was incorporated and its name changed to Haltom City. A Texas Historical marker reads: Birdville Cemetery "The oldest marked grave in this pioneer community cemetery is that of Wiley Wilda Potts (Dec. 20, 1922 - Dec. 15, 1852), The one-acre tract, then part of the George Akers grant, was legally set aside for burial purposes before 1860. More land was later donated, and by 1910 the site included 3.27 acres. Birdville Cemetery Association organized under a 50-year charter in 1917, was rechartered in 1967. The cemetery contained 552 known graves in 1965. Several families have four generations buried here in the same plot. The site now encompasses seven acres and is still used for burials. (1975).
