    3. Does anyone know anything about this group? According to the obit for John Griffin in 1916, his funeral was assisted by the Bedford Forrest Camp Ex-Confederate Veterans of which he was a member. I was hoping to find more details of his military service, as I have not been able to locate the Ala. unit that was mentioned in the obit. Any ideas? Thanks, Tamara

    1. [TXTARRAN-L] $50 reward to find James K. Polk Roberts
    2. Brenda Hay
    3. Hello I am offering a $50 reward to anyone who can find my ancestor in Texas after 1899. He filed a pension application in 1899 from Stepehenville in Erath Co, TX. On this pension he claims to have been in Texas since 1881. James K. Polk (age 35) was listed on the 1880 census in Jackson Co, TN with his wife Mary A. Haley (age 29) and children, Sarah E. Roberts (age 10), Josiah Roberts (age 9), Robert E. Roberts (age 6) (found in Erath Co, TX census 1900), Amanda Tennessee Robertts (age 4) ( she was found in Wise Co, TX in 1900), Daisy Roberts (age 2) (found marrying Albert E. Martin in Tarrant Co, TX), and Leonides Roberts born in 1880. I have been unable to find James K. Polk Roberts on any census after the 1880 Jackson Co, TN census. Only trace I have of him after that is the pension filed from Erath Co, TX in 1899. I will send a $50 cashier's check to ANYONE who can find him in Texas after 1880. That would mean a census, burial place, church record.........anything that documents him in Texa after 1880. Someone PLEASE find him. I have looked and looked and have decided it is well worth $50 to me to find this ancestor. Thanks for any help, Brenda -- GENEALOGY = always meant to be shared! 1. [TXTARRAN-L] Benjamin Franklin Vantreese
    2. Patsy Knight
    3. I am seeking information on B. F. Vantreese who resided in the Masonic Home on Division St. in Arlington from September of 1913 until his death on December 31, 1913. He was, according to his death certificate, buried in Arlington, TX on Jan. 1, 1914. He was a member of the Fort Worth Masonic Lodge#940. I cannot find where he was buried. The Home and the Masons do have a record on him but not where he is buried. I have checked the DAR Cemetery Records at the Fort Worth Library to no avail. According to the Masonic Home, he had a son in Fort Worth in 1913 (could have been Claude or Jasper), and there is a Margaret Vantreese buried in Fort Worth. Ben was my great grandfather. He was a Confederate Army veteran and received a pension starting in 1899. His widow, Mary Susan Cooper Vantreese, lived in Jones Co. after his death and is buried in Kenedy, Karnes Co. south of San Antonio. Does anyone have any suggestions or recognize any of these names? Thanks for any help or suggestions, Patsy Love Knight pknight@arlington.net Surnames: Love, Vantreese, Biggs, Simmons, Caudle, Hamrick, McConnell, O'Donnell, Knox, Houston, Duren, Tuck, Cooper. ============================================================

    2. Pamela Wagoner
    3. I could not figure out where my ggrandfather, Charles Sterling WAGONER, was in the 1880 census, until I discovered that in the 1900 census, he was named as Charley and was back in Missouri in Johnson county. I put the name Charley Wagoner in the Ancestry AIS search engine and it came up with a listing for 1880 at Fort Worth, Tarrant county, TX which is where family tradition says his older half-brothers and sister had gone. Does anyone have a copy of the 1880 Tarrant county census where they could lookup this Charley and see if he's mine. I hate to order a film if I'm just on a "fishing trip". Charley Wagoner was born 4/30/1862, Lafayette, MO. He may have been there with Isabella/Sarah J. Wagoner, b. 1847 Kentucky, Albert M. Wagoner, b. 1850 Kentucky, Elvis/Elias G. Wagoner, b. 7/3/1857 Odessa, MO, d. 5/23/1909 Fort Worth, Tarrant county, TX. Thanks in advance. Pam Oregon

That was the year my mother was adopted from there. Does it take a court order to open the records? Would the father's name be recorded? If anyone can give me advice, I'd be very appreciative.
