Would like to contact descendants of James N Gray. He left Limestone Co AL to follow his sister Nancy Melinda & brother in law Samuel Stewart to the Republic of Texas. They settled at Daingerfield, Red River Co now Morris Co TX where James patented 320 ac of land because he was a single man. He took part of the land in town lots. Gray & Stewart served as Texas Rangers in 1841 in Capt J D Lilley's Special Forces. When Stewart died in 1850, Gray was the administrator. As soon as the estate was settled, he moved from then Titus Co, selling his land by posting a title bond. The bond failed and Gray made it good, signing a document with his wife Treawick when they stated their residence was Tarrant Co TX. Weatherford also signed with them, relationship unknown. Seeking information on William Wyeth James, who was a resident of Fort Worth during the period following the War Between the States up until about 1920. Apparently there was a reward for him, dead or alive. He managed to stay alive and finally signed an Oath of Allegiance in the 1920's. Any information will be appreciated. Caron Withers Snyder
Hi! I have finally made a breakthrough with my Great-grandfather John Anderson Brown. If his death certificate info is correct, he was born in Grayson County on 08/23/1874. I found the address and phone number of the Grayson (TX) County Clerk online, but the webpage indicates they only have birth records from 1909. I was hoping the birth certificate will have more info on it about John's parents, William F. BROWN m. Nellie DAVIS, both from Georgia. This is the information I have been able to gather. William F. BROWN m. Nellie DAVIS in Georgia. son: John Anderson BROWN, (b. 08/23/1874 Grayson County, TX, d. 11/09/1933 Fort Worth, Tx) married (abt. 1900) Elizabeth Nellie DARTER (b 1881 , d 1968) from Grayson County, TX. (She went by Nellie E. Darter.) They lived in Grayson County, TX and then they moved to Fort Worth, Tarrant County, TX. John A. Brown worked for Swift and Company in the Stockyards of Fort Worth. They had 3 children. 1. George BROWN -(b. April 23, 1903, died ?? in California?? ) 2. Earl (Buddy) BROWN - (b. Jan. 29, 1905, Grayson County, died Dec. 10, 1992 in Fort Worth, TX, Tarrant County) 3. Blanche BROWN - (b. Nov. 27, 1906 d. 1981 in Fort Worth, TX, Tarrant County) I am sorry. I have no other dates. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Susan Black

Presley or Pressley AUSTIN, b. ca. 1880-82, Pontotoc Co., MS [unproven in the records that I have located, but said to have been a child of David & Julia.] David & Julia stated in a 1900 census record that they had five children of eight surviving at that time; it is proven that Mollie, David, William and George survived, but whether Elizabeth, Frances or the last reported child, Clifford Pressley was the other surviving child is unknown to me at this time.
