The Petty, Dawson, and Queen families came from TN via Ark. A Dawson daughter, Elizabeth, married John Petty in TN. The couple and most of their 12 children initially settled in Bastrop Co., TX near present day Red Rock. So did many of John's siblings but they did not stay. Many Petty grown children latter settled in San Saba working the cattle trails. The Bastrop boards contain a lot on the Petty family and Margie Petty along with her husband maintain the Pettytown Cemetery Association. It meets once a year in May at the cemetery, which is all that is left of Pettytown. They have a large database and may be able to help you. My husband descends from Ann Catherine Petty Williams Pogue, daughter of Elizabeth Dawson and John Petty. I have not worked on this family in 15 years. The Petty genealogy has been well documented to Barbados and England.
