You mentioned books I have not read. My gr-grandfather, Will James was shot in 1896 by members of the Mob. His daughter, my grandmother always said his killing was because of the conflict between cattlemen and homesteaders. Could there be truth in this? She was only 12 when he was killed. Will James had 160 Acres of bought and paid for land. Would he be considered a homesteader? His wife, my gr-grandmother sold his land for a fraction of its value after his death, but I don't know to whom. I plan to get the books you mentioned, that I have not already read.
