Just thought I'd mention this again. While there may be no contemporary birth record for your near term ancestors, there could be... a Probate Birth Certificate filed with the County to qualify for Social Security benefits from the Social Security program. My grandmother's probated birth certificate indicates that the midwife assisting at her birth was still alive in Richland Springs some 60+ years after the blessed event. The midwife's affadavit provided the proof of birth and age acceptable to the County to issue a Probate Birth Certificate. Yes, friends, the midwife was still alive in the 1940's, some 60+ years after the birth, so she would have been somewhat long in tooth. But, my point is, look for a delayed, probate birth certificate in San Saba County. You just might be very pleasantly surprised if your ancestor received Social Security benefits. Tom
