Sylvester was born in Middlebury, Indiana. I know my Grandmother ended up in Zion, ILL. As she had her first child in Chicago in 1900. Their grandfather Hemen DePew was married to a Mary Coomes from NY. DO you know who Hemen's father was? A cousin of mine tracked down the Denning, NY census of 1850- which shows Hemen (age 39) and Mary (age 36) but also shows a Abraham and Sarah who at the time were 73 and 71- were those his parents?
