Dear Karen and Patricia, I think you just knocked down a brick wall for me. I live in Michigan and went to San Saba last April looking for info my Jackson [Jack} Hillary Dawson. I went to their old home place near San Saba and to Smelser's Cemetery where Jack and several children were buried. But, I didn't learn anything about his family. My great grandmother was Martha Jane Oliver, d/o Andrew Jackson Oliver and Cynthia Jane Faver and I do have her lineage. Well, according to the census 1860 they list Hilery as age 6, and in 1870 Jackson is listed as 16 years. Both would have been born 1854, same year as my Jackson Hillary. He was married about 1874 at age 20. In 1880 he isn't listed with the family. My Jack H. Dawson and Martha are listed in the census together in 1880. in 1890 Martha is a widow with several children. I believe this is my Dawson family. Jack and Martha's children bear the same names as the children in Fielding and Nancy's family. THANKS, THANKS! THANKS! Helynn

Clarence was born on June 27, 1907 married Aunt Zulie on June 6, 1930 in San Saba , and he died in August of 1983. I think there are still several relatives in the area. Aunt Zulie is buried in the City Cemetery in San Saba, I assume so is Uncle Clarence. They had no children.
Dear Patricia, Thanks for your request for a look-up for "Ellen/Tempe/Mary DAWSON". The only one I can find, in any of my various reference books, that MIGHT be a connection is a "Mary" DAWSON, age 4, in the 1870 census. You stated your Ellen "Tempe" Mary Dawson would be about 2 at this time. This particular "Mary" Dawson's parents were Fielding and Nancy Dawson. They are listed in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 census with various children. The details are as follows: 1860 San Saba Census: Fieldidng DAUSON, age 38, born IND Nancy, 33, MO Sarah E., 11, TX William A., 10, TX Eliza Jane, 8, TX Hilery T. (male), age 6, born TX Beckey Elender, 4, TX 1870 San Saba Census: Fielding DAWSON, 47, born IND Nancy, 43, MO Sarah E., 21, TX Wm., 20, TX Jackson, 16, TX Rebecca E., 13, TX John S., 9, TX Mary, 4, TX (could this be the gal you are looking for????) 1880 San Saba Census: Fielding DAWSON, 57, born IND; fa. born VA, mo. born IND Nancy, 51, MO; fa. born VA, mo. born IND William, 26, son, TX John, 19, son, TX Mary, 14, dau., TX There were no matching DAWSON's listed in the history book essays. Hope this possibly leads to something! Regards, Karen Gauny Crisalli

Many people use Microsoft Word (word processor) to type their messages. (These files have a "doc" extension...such as kinfolks.doc). Do you ever get email or forwarded information about kinfolk that has been created with Microsoft Word....but you don't have Microsoft Word so you can't open and read your mail??? Take heart.....from the www location below you can download a free MSWord reader. (You can also download it from Microsoft, but it's easier here).
