    1. [TXSSABA] Webster + Hine
    2. Donna
    3. Sorry if anyone is getting this twice. I'm searching for any information about my great grandparents. John M Webster married Mary Julia Hine on October 10, 1877 in Lampasas Co. They're listed in San Saba Co. 1880 census. Did they move or did the county lines move? Are there any tax records in Lampasas Co for that period? I think both families had to be near there and I would love to know who the parents of John M Webster were. I've searched for them for over 10 years with no luck. I would also like to have a copy of their marriage certificate and will pay for the costs. Thanks for any help, donna brand

I recognize so many names from marriages of the FEAZLE girls and the PRESCOTT girls. I have seen pictures of the PRESCOTT boys and the entry where they were charged with disturbing worship made me laugh. They looked like they thought they were a rough bunch. 1. [TXSSABA] Grandparent(s)or Great Grandparent(s) eligible for Social Security...
    2. Just thought I'd mention this again. While there may be no contemporary birth record for your near term ancestors, there could be... a Probate Birth Certificate filed with the County to qualify for Social Security benefits from the Social Security program. My grandmother's probated birth certificate indicates that the midwife assisting at her birth was still alive in Richland Springs some 60+ years after the blessed event. The midwife's affadavit provided the proof of birth and age acceptable to the County to issue a Probate Birth Certificate. Yes, friends, the midwife was still alive in the 1940's, some 60+ years after the birth, so she would have been somewhat long in tooth. But, my point is, look for a delayed, probate birth certificate in San Saba County. You just might be very pleasantly surprised if your ancestor received Social Security benefits. Tom

    1. [TXSSABA] TRIP TO SAN SABA
    2. Last Monday and Tuesday Mar. 9&10, my sister and I went to San Saba to do some research at the courthouse and library and visit family graves. I got the deeds where my g-great grandfather, Jack Dawson accrued the “Dawson Place” on Rough Creek and the one where Martha Jane {Oliver} Dawson sold it to George W. Long. [We live in Michigan and were visiting our families in Houston so this was quite exciting for us.] I have been corresponding with Lynn Blankenship over the past few years, and finally I had the privilege to meet her and her husband, Jerry. Lovely people! And, I was pleased to get THE HISTORY OF SAN SABA and the Index. When I got back to Houston, my son-in-law, Mike told me his mothers parents had lived in San Saba and as a 10 year old he had gone to visit them. He didn't know why they had chosen to move there and knew of no family connection in San Saba. He looked up the name “Charlie and Ruby Ella Benskin” and found his grandmother listed as daughter of John Joseph Long, Jr. and Ella Rachel Long. What a surprise to learn our families had been friends over 100 years ago! And to think the g-g-granddaughter of the Dawsons married the g-g-grandson of these Longs! And I share a granddaughter with these people! Talk about “soul mates!” Thanks for all the help. Researching, DAWSON-OLIVER-FAVER-WILLIS-JOHNSON. Helynn, IBSSG.
