Hi everyone, I am enclosing an article that ran in the San Saba News this week about Memorial and Tribute pages that you may want to put into the New History Book. If you would like to put in a tribute you may e-mail me at jerlyn@centex.net and I will send you an order form. The second volume of the San Saba County history will have a section for memorials and tributes. The San Saba County Historical Commission is now accepting photographs and text from those who wish to honor friends and loved ones. There will be quarter, half and whole page memorial spaces. Pages are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, as space may be limited. Please do not send original pictures. Please have glossy copies made and submit one of those. Computer print outs and copy shop prints do not reproduce well. Please include a sketch of how you would like your memorial page to be arranged. Your material can be mailed to the address on the order form, given to a Commission member or left at the Rylander Library. Lynn Blankenship Secretary, San Saba County Historical Commission jerlyn@centex.net
As administrator of the San Saba County maillist, I am beginning to receive some complaints on the Tommy Lee Jones thread of discussion. We have shifted from genealogy to delving to the personal life of a well known citizen of San Saba County. We need to get back on the topic of genealogy. Also, as a reminder, one should not be posting any snail mail address of any individual, without permission of that individual. I thank everyone for their cooperation. Cathie, so pleased to hear from you. I'm looking for Fielding's parents, [where he was born] siblings and if any of his family came to Texas. I have Nancy's parents as Harmon and Elizabeth Jones. I read that Harmon was a Baptist minister. my source is unproven by me as I got it from Brøderbund WFT Vol. 22, Ed. 1, Tree #2077. Anything that we may be able to share would be great. Thanks, Helynn

If you ever come across his e-mail address that would be appreciated also! Even e-mail address of his friends and neighbours would be appreciated. If I can't e-mail him direct then indirect is the next best way to go. Yes, if been to a number of websites. I'm not really a fan ... just had a dream with him in it and I didn't even know who he was at the time ... the next day one of his movies was on the TV so I watch. And became interested in seeing if I could send him some info on our website/research. I also, discovered that he is a friend of the Clintons. In addition, please send me any other info you feel inclined to send. Thanks! Dana

I am a decendent of the Arant/Arrant line dating back to the 1700's in South Carolina. My Grandfather was Joseph W. Arant, my G Grandfather was James B. Arant and my GG Grandfather was Aaron Arant of South Carolina. My Aunt Lillie Arant married first Morgan Rickman, and later married Polk Arant. I don't know if it is the same Polk or not, but they lived in St. Louis, Mo. I would be happy to share any information I have with you. Ruth Ann Arant Edge
Jessie Faver was born 1872, location unknown. Her father was John Willis Faver b. July 11, 1846 in Alabama, d. April 15, 1922 in Mercury, San Saba County, Texas. Her mother was Katherine Caroline (Carrie) McMurray, b. May 22, 1850 in Louisiana, d. June 4, 1920 in Goldthwaite, Mills County, Texas. I have no other information on Carrie McMurray, but the parents of John Willis Faver were William Nail (Billy) Faver and Elizabeth L. (Betsy) Willis. I have other information on the Faver family if you are interested. Billy and Betsy Faver were my ggg grandparents. They are buried at Harmony Ridge, San Saba County, Texas.
I am also a Rowden descendant, and although it has not been proven, I have suspected a probable kinship to the San Saba Rowdens since my gggggrandmother SARAH "SALLY" Rowden m. Martin S. Shults in early Rhea Co. TN. Around 1870-1880, census and deeds show that members of this Shults family, along with their Blevins relatives, also lived in San Saba Co. The Rowden name is first of all, not that common, and secondly, spelled so many ways. With this being the same spelling as on the original marriage certificate, I felt there was a tie-in. There is also a ROWDEN in Llano Co. around 1880 who intermarried with the TATE family, who are buried in the Sandy Mt. Cem., located today in the Sunrise Beach area of Lake LBJ I think his name was Barry E. Rowden (born 1867 died 1925) Karylon A. Russell, Box 823, Llano, TX 78643 krussell@moment.net
