    1. [TXSSABA] Old Naming Patterns
    2. Bobbie [Speir] Jarvinen
    3. I just received this from another list, it doesn't give the years these patterns were in prominence but the information is good. OLD NAMING PATTERNS The first son was named after the father's father. The second son was named after the mother's father. The third son was named after the father. The fourth son was named after the fathers eldest brother. The first daughter was named after the mother's mother. The second daughter was named after the father's mother. The third daughter was named after the mother. The fourth daughter was named after the mothers eldest sister, always. ALSO: 2nd wife's oldest daughter named after the first wife, using her full name. Children after those listed above were usually named after a favorite relative with some possible exceptions: If a child died in infancy, a later child might be given the same name. When a newly ordained minister baptized his first child, if that child were a boy, he would be named for the minister, if a girl, she would receive his surname as her middle name. If a child were fostered, usually because of being orphaned, he may be named for the foster parent. If you are sure that you have the earliest birth or baptisms and that they are in the correct order then, if John's first son is named Charles and his second daughter is named Elizabeth then John's parents must be Charles and Elizabeth. Bobbie. .-*"*-.,,.-*"*-.,,.-*"*-.,,.-*"*-.,,.-*"*-.,,.-*"*-.,,.-*"*-.,,.-*"*-.,,.-*"*-. 1. [TXSSABA] MARLEY
    2. I happened to stumble on something that would be of interest to anyone researching the MARLEY name (I am NOT). There is, on eBay (the auction web site) a painting of a log house that states that it is a picture of the house in which "Mima MARLEY" (Mrs. J. W. HOLLIS) was born in 1874 and is alleged to be at "The Colony, San Saba". Now, I have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do this painting, this auction, nor this family. I just happened to stumble on it and thought that someone on the list just might have a connection and want to bid on it. According to the bid information, it will be available until Nov. 18. So, if YOU are researching this Marley/Hollis family, you can check it out at eBay. The exact 'address' of the painting is: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=496493795 Hope this helps someone! Let me know...... Regards, Karen Gauny Crisalli

Isaac B. COOPER married a NANCY ??.presumably in Kimble Co., Tx. I am unaware of a wife's name for HIRAM , but both of them evidently died and these children were sent to a sister in Sutton Co.
