I did a search of the San Saba County censuses 1850-1940 and didn't find anyone with that first name in the county. Maybe a search of county land records, since you have an approximate location. 3. Try checking out Risien Park which is on the San Saba River because I have lived in San Saba County from birth to 18 and have never heard of Rinate or Rincate in San Saba County. (Risien is pronounced like Reason.) There has always been a swimming pool there. A guy named Edmond E. Risien who came to the area in 1870 and acquired land and then donated the land for the park.

    3. You may just need to widen your search criteria. The San Saba River is 140 miles from Fort McKavett (Camp San Saba) until it drains into the Colorado river. It rises in two branches. The North Valley prong rises four times southeast of Eldorado which is in Schleicher county. The Middle Valley prong is northeast of Sonora which is Sutton County. The two streams merge in Schleicher County which is two miles West of Fort McKavett. In the 140 miles it travels as the San Saba River it passes through parts of San Saba, Menard, Mason and McCulloch counties. > On Mar 30, 2015, at 12:37 PM, gc-gateway@rootsweb.com wrote: > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: bookcrazed > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.sansaba/1467.2/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I, too, think it might be the name of a ranch or homestead. 2. Stephanie Hood via
    3. Rinate is the plural form of the word Rinato which means reborn or born again. Is it possible the use of the word refers to the use of the stream instead of its actual name on a map? It could have been a common name for the area that was never put on paper. There is also the possibility that the name refers to a homestead. Many families would name their homesteads. My ancestors land in Bell County was referred to as Valley Home in correspondence, but that was only the name of the homestead, not a town or community reference. So many possibilities, I am very interested to find out the answer. Would love to see the photo. I love old photos. > On Mar 28, 2015, at 10:03 AM, gc-gateway@rootsweb.com wrote: > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: jerrymead1 > Surnames: Wilson > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.sansaba/1467/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I have an old photo of some people swimming in a river. 3. Hey Barbara, Were your McDowells ever in what is now Bell County? There was a lot of back and forth between here and the San Saba area. My McDowells went from Independence to the Nolan Valley area, but Cherokee isn’t that far away when you think about it. I think they travelled more via horseback than we do by car.
