EAST TEXAS GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY Tyler Public Library, Taylor Auditorium 201 South College, Tyler TX 75702 July 14, 2018, 2:00 p.m. TOPIC: “Dating, Identifying and Preserving Old Photographs” Do you have family photographs or other photographs, but don’t know who the people are? Learn how to solve those puzzling questions with Betsy House Mills. You can learn to analyze the type of the photograph, the people, the fashions and styles of the times in the photographs as well as often-missed clues. Betsy House Mills has been a genealogist since the age of 10 when she found a family tree in her baby book that hadn’t been filled out. Betsy began pestering people for information for that tree and hasn’t stopped since! Betsy is part of the TXGenWeb Project and State Coordinator for Arkansas GenWeb. She is currently President of Lamar County Genealogical Society and heads up the Cemeteries Committee for Lamar County Historical Commission. She maintains the Lamar County Death and Cemetery Records database which contains obituaries, burial information, biographies, etc. for almost 100,000 individuals. She is also Treasurer for Texas State Genealogical Society. Betsy has membership in National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Magna Charta Dames. East Texas Genealogical Society meets the second Saturday of each month. Meetings are open to the public and free.
