Noted historian, author, and community leader, Charles "Charlie" Chitwood will speak at the next Shelby County Historical Society meeting, June 24 starting at 6:00 pm at the Museum. Mr. Chitwood is a free-lance writer and research historian living in Jefferson, TX. He was the founding executive director and curator of the Texas History Museum (formally Texas heritage Archives and Library). Mr. Chitwood is active in Jefferson as a volunteer and has directed several event, including the town's Mardi Gras Festival which attracts over 50,000 annually.
