Johnson of Layton, Utah, speaking on East Texas Sawmill Culture and Researching in the Morman Genealogy Records. While a native of northern California and being a non-Morman, he has cultivated some deep East Texas Roots by earning master's degrees in History and English at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and developing the sawmill data base while working at the Texas Forestry Museum in Lufkin. He has done a special research project on Kelty's Community north of Lufkin and at least two research appers on Morman communities in Texas. He has also developed an extensive expertise in using the Morman Research Resources.
