My g-g-grandfather, Martin Fletcher DAVIS was born in about 1849-1852 in probably Shelby or Panola county, Texas. He was the son of Nathan DAVIS (1810 - 1883) and Susan FLETCHER (1820 - after 1860). He was in Panola county in 1880 with a wife and 3 children. This is the last place I can pin him down. He bought the land in Henderson county, in March of 1885, where his widow and children ended up. His widow remarried in November of 1886, so he must have died between March 1885 and November 1886, but I can't determine whether he died in Panola (or Shelby) county before they came to Henderson county. Does anyone have cemetery indexes that list this person? I will be coming to the area at the end of this month to look up court records and would like to photograph the cemetery and tombstone if I can locate where he is buried.
