    3. To David Pike in Timpson Regarding: The below message, Sarah Ann Ritter, daughter of William A. Ritter & granddaughter of Everett S. Ritter, was first married to Joseph Tidwell in Panola Co., Tx in 1868, then to Laborn Augustus Barnett and last to Hiram Adams. She was born about 1856 according to the 1860 and 1870 census records of Panola Co., TX. Her tombstone has the wrong date on it but was put there many years after her death. Just wanted to set the record straight as Sarah & Joseph had 4 children, one (Mary "Molly" Telitha Ann) of which I am a desc. of. Sarah and Molly are buried side by side in Mt. Bethel Cem., Gary, TX. Hope this helps with your records on the Sarah. How are you related, we must be cousins? CF in TN Hi Bill Tex Ritter was born just north of Gary (Panola) Texas in what was, and still is, known as Murvual Community. Timpson at that time was the largest town in the area. It isn't anymore. U.S. Hwy 59 runs from Laredo thru Houston on to Texarkana and on north. Coming north from houston (about 150 mi) on Hwy 59 you would be in downtown Timpson. Continuing on north you would pass thru the community of BOBO. About 5 mi further north would put you in Tenaha (State Champs last year in "A" football). What happened to Blair???. Well you would have to get off Hwy 59 about a mile before Timpson on a FM road toward Lake Timpson. Where you cross over the railroad tracks---that's Blair. And these communities are not extinct, as one of your responses indicated. I don't know all the words to this song (I have that packed away somewhere), but it goes " hey conductor, engineer, stop the train 'cause we are near. Tenaha, TIMPSON, Bobo and Blair " There actually was a man named Bobo. Timpson was named after a relative of the owner of the first railroad, which hit this area in 1885 (6). I believe Blair was also named after RR official. Tenaha is an Indian word meaning muddy water (in a nearby creek), this entrie region was known as the Tenaha Muncilipalty (sp) back in Spanish days, long before Texas gained its independence from Mexico. Hope this helps. David Pike of Timpson Texas 1958 Graduate of Timpson High School TIMPSON BEARS Descendants of Jesse Barry Ritter Jr. Generation No. 1 1. JESSE BARRY RITTER1 JR.
