The Shelby County Historical Society Meetings September 23 6:00 p.m. Shauna Bushiey, a junior at Joaquin High School, will be performing a jingle dance. The dance is steeped in tradition with the Cherokee people. Shauna has perform all over the south and is recognized for her dancing accomplishments. She will also talk about the different forms of dance and their significance. October 5th 5:30 Joint meeting with the San Augustine Historical Foundation in San Augustine at the MISSION Delores. Dr. Corbin, professor and archaeologist will speak on the importance of the mission and the many years of research. November 11th 6:00p.m TBA December 5th 2-5 Christmas tour of homes. A local organization will be sponsoring the tour which will include the Museum, John C. Rogers house, recently renovated courthouse and other homes in Shelby County. More information in October.
