The History of Shelby County, Texas Vol 1 books arrived last week. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Ray Jackson, Margie Randle, Egel Permenter, Kim Warner and Leonard Irish 120 books were sold and have been either mailed, hand delivered or picked-up. A special thank you to Ann Bowen and Donna Kay Thompson for there help on the credit card orders. We ordered extra books anticipating that we could sale them over the next several years. However, I feel we will be able to accomplish this by the end of 2000. The Society will be glad to take your order and payment by check, money order, cash or credit card. Please contact the Society at 936-598-3613 to place your order or you may buy a book at the Shelby County Museum, 230 Pecan Street, Center, TX. Cost: $130 each. Again thanks to everyone that supported this project and help make it a reality. Enjoy a fascinating book on people, places and happenings in Shelby County. I and many of the society members look forward to working on a new book project in the near future. So get those articles ready. Most history books take anywhere from 2-5 years to complete gathering information prior to publishing. But with computers and all the new technology available it may only take a year or two.
