My Dad was raised on a farm in the Sabine River Bottom between Shelbyville and Converse. I have heard him tell many stories about the River, Haleys Ferry, Mikes Ferry and other events associated with the communities that are probably now under water. If any of you have any history of any of these communities , locations, or events that took place between about 1900 and 1940 I would love to hear from you. I am considering writing a book of the memoirs of my fathers family and life in Rural Shelby County and De Soto parish of the pre and post Depression Era.
